Summer Holiday Programme

Come and experience nature first-hand with activities for all ages & abilities

Each year, a dedicated bunch of volunteers from Moehau Environment Group run a Summer Holiday Programme during the month of January.  The programme offers locals and visitors the chance to experience and enjoy Coromandel’s natural treasures guided by local volunteers keen to share their passion and knowledge. A number of fun, nature-themed activities are available for children too.

A GROUP ATTENDS A SUMMER PROGRAMME GUIDED WALK

All funds raised go towards conservation in the Northern Coromandel.

You can download our latest programme here, or pick up a guide from Coromandel I-site and local campgrounds.  The team at Moehau Environment Group look forward to next summer and meeting you soon.

Dogs and kiwi, kiwi Avoidance Training for Dogs

Kiwi Avoidance Training sessions are available on the Coromandel throughout the summer and are provided by DOC and Save the Kiwi specially trained Kiwi Avoidance trainers.

DOG UNDERGOING KIWI AVOIDANCE TRAINING

After stoats, the next biggest threat to our kiwi comes from wandering dogs. Each summer, we work together with other community groups on the Coromandel to raise awareness  during the busy visitor season about the risk dogs pose to kiwi. Our group also works with the Department of Conservation to promote and run regular kiwi avoidance training for dogs.
