Save Kiwi Week: 14-20 October 2013

Help us protect Coromandel Kiwi during Save Kiwi Week, October 14-20th. Save Kiwi Week is a national campaign to promote and support local efforts to protect kiwi.

Save Kiwi Week will help highlight the struggles kiwi face in the wild, efforts already going into protecting kiwi and the importance of raising further funds to help kiwi. The event has been launched by Kiwis for Kiwi with the collective goal of raising $100,000 for kiwi protection.

Here on the Coromandel, Moehau Environment Group volunteers will be doing their part. Visitors to Coromandel town may get a photo opportunity with Koro the Kiwi (our cheeky feathered mascot). There’ll also be informative displays in the Information Centre and a Nocturnal Kiwi Experience room at the BNZ. And check out Trademe for some great kiwi-themed auctions. We’re also proud to have local businesses supporting the cause. Watch out for special deals being offered by generous Coromandel businesses during the week, with all money raised going towards Coromandel Kiwi protection.

If you feel inspired to help protect kiwi on the Coromandel, why not get involved? You can offer to volunteer in our Coromandel Kiwi project, help raise some money to save kiwi, or sponsor a stoat trap for $65/year. For info about how to be a part of Save Kiwi Week contact Natalie@meg.org.nz
