New beer will help protect kiwi

Thursday 4 June was the launch of Code Red, a new craft beer which will help raise funds for kiwi on the Coromandel.

Moehau Environment Group has teamed up with Karen and Neil Vowles from the Coromandel Brewing Company to make a red Irish ale. 50 cents from the sale of each ‘Code Red’ will help predator control continue within our Kiwi protection areas. The beer’s branding will also act as a talking point at the popular brewery, to hopefully spread the message that Coromandel is ‘Real Kiwi Country’.

The launch took place at the Pour House in Hahei, home of the Coromandel Brewing Company. It was a full house, and the beer was a hit with the locals, and those that had travelled from as far as Port Charles and Thames to sample a drop. If you’d like to taste for yourself, it’s available on tap at the Pour House in Hahei, and will be bottled in the next few months.
